Mission Statement
Main Street Baptist Church is an American Baptist congregation, locally a part of the Broome Tioga Association.
Our beliefs are evangelical, meaning we believe the Bible to be the written Word of God and our sole authority for faith and practice. We preach and teach and study and seek to be guided by the Scripture. We believe in the Triune God, in the unique Sonship of Jesus the Messiah, in the need of all persons to believe in Christ crucified, risen, reigning, and returning for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
We believe the church is the Body of Christ, where the Holy Spirit unites us in a loving spiritual family. We believe we're all still sinners, just "telling other beggars where to find bread". We are a small, but close-knit group... real relationships... praying, supporting, enjoying one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
Our morning worship is relatively formal and traditional, with the intention of giving primacy to an atmosphere of "reverence and awe". Our evening service is informal, varied, and interactive. Our hope is to strike a balance this way.
